The service went well and the family were extremely pleased for the presence of the Fusiliers. Present were Albert Sheperd and Harry Edwards, both band and drums, standard bearer Kevin Heselwood presenting Fusiliers association colours, and Jed Harrison, plus yours truly. The last post and lowering of the colours, with Jed in salute, was a very moving moment, as was the reminder that Jim was quite proud of his service with the Lancashire Fusiliers. I include a photo that Harry Edwards has kept since 1960 and living not to far from Jim, kept up his friendship ever since, as did Albert Sheperd, also living close by.
