3rd Bn Militia and Special (Reserve)

Sgt Patrick Cassidy
Born 7 April 1875 in Warrington, Lancashire

5536 Sergeant Patrick Cassidy enlisted into the 3rd Bn LF Militia in 1896 and served with them until 1908, a total of 12 years.

At the end of his service with the LFs, he had some reserve service until 1908 by which time he was living in Trinidad. ( Trindidad Water Riot of March 1903)

He married during this time and had a family.

Following his LF service he joined the British West Indies Regiment in 1903, and later went with them as part of the Egyptian expeditionary force in WW1.

He then served as a Sergeant Instructor with the Port Of Spain Constabulary until he returned home ( without his family)
in 1920 to live at Ince Wigan where he died in 1945.
