Joseph Halstead
2nd 5th Lancashire Fusiliers
WW1

I meet up with an old Friend from when I worked at Nat West the other day and we had a tour of the museum he was telling me he has been researching his family history and has been working on his grandfathers history and he has given it to me for the web site thank you Andrew Slim

"Doing my Bit" is on sale in the Fusiliers Museum in Bury

One thing Andrew was not sure about was how they got his personnel possessions back to him if they could not give him a grave. This was before they went into action all personnel possessions where put in a bag and kept by the HQ so if they where captured the enemy could not identify them this is how he got the bible back (photo No.5) at this time they did not have dog tags then
