Jordan 1951

This is a pic of the A Coy 1LF football team taken at AQUABA in Jordan in 1951.The pic has been sent to us by Jim Costello in Australia. A coy had just beaten C coy in the Bn championship final with a score of 1 to 0. It is a particularly interesting photo, as the background shows an area known as the Valley of the Moon. This is where Lawrence of Arabia shot his old friend before they attacked the Turks at Aquaba. Also of interest is the fusilier to the right of TP Shaw as you look at the pic,he is Jay Starkey, the Uncle of Ringo Starr. There was a really good party after the match as TP and Lt Inchbold had bet heavily on A Coy and spent the winnings on booze for the team! Were you there at the time? Are the names correct? Where is the lovely shield in the pic? Please E mail the editor if you can add anything to the info we have.
