WANTED
Did you Know

John Wood or Jack Wood as he liked to be known as

John Wood

Dear Sir,
We are having great difficulty in tracing a relative from the second world war and am hoping you may be able to help, . My wife's father was named John Wood or Jack Wood as he liked to be known, we know he served with the Lancashire Fusiliers in the early part of WW2 because we have a photograph of him in a frame with the regiment title around it. All the other information we have points to him moving to the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers during WW2 then serving as a glider trained airborne operative later in the war, he was then seriously injured near Caen. I have paid for the RNF search and they cannot find any trace of him (unfortunately we do not know his army number) I know we only have minor detail but hope you may be able to help us.
We think he made the rank of Sergeant.
The details are Mr John Wood, Born in Darwen, Lancashire on the 20th of November 1915, we think he had joined the army prior or very early to the start of the war has the pic we have got is from 1940. If it helps in anyway please let me know and I will scan the picture and send it to you. Many Thanks.

Unfortunately there is no-one left from my wife's immediate family only her and an older brother, her dad left his medals to my wife but feeling sorry she gave them to her brother to keep on the proviso that he return them if anything happened to him, since then he has cut all contact with her and so she has lost all the information she might get from his medals!! Which is a great shame!!
