Sgt James Penson.
Sgt ( later RQMS ) served with the Lancashire Fusiliers from his enlistment in 1898 to his discharge in 1916, but his Army days didn't finish there - he joined the Royal Defence Corps towards the end of WW1 by which time he held the rank of RQMS and only had one arm !

All in all he was given 4 different Service numbers; 6083, 4356, 35727 and 46763 which span 1898-1910,
1914-15, 1916 (when he lost an arm in an accident), and 1918-1919 when was in the RDC.
